Declaration [src]

gtk_builder_add_from_string (
  GtkBuilder* builder,
  const gchar* buffer,
  gsize length,
  GError** error

Description [src]

Parses a string containing a [GtkBuilder UI definition][BUILDER-UI] and merges it with the current contents of builder.

Most users will probably want to use gtk_builder_new_from_string().

Upon errors 0 will be returned and error will be assigned a GError from the #GTK_BUILDER_ERROR, #G_MARKUP_ERROR or

It’s not really reasonable to attempt to handle failures of this call. The only reasonable thing to do when an error is detected is to call g_error().

Available since: 2.12

Type: const gchar*

The string to parse.

The data is owned by the caller of the method.
The value is a NUL terminated UTF-8 string.

Type: gsize

The length of buffer (may be -1 if buffer is nul-terminated).

Type: GError **

The return location for a recoverable error.

The argument can be NULL.
If the return location is not NULL, then you must initialize it to a NULL GError*.
The argument will be left initialized to NULL by the method if there are no errors.
In case of error, the argument will be set to a newly allocated GError; the caller will take ownership of the data, and be responsible for freeing it.

Return value

Type: guint

A positive value on success, 0 if an error occurred.
